The Days of Reflection
Day 12 – Positive Result With Testing and Feedback
I have been teaching Chemistry on a recent rotation and this week I have a few end of unit tests for my groups. For a Year 8 group I decided not to mark the test straight away but give it back to the students with a different colour pen. We discussed the answers as a group and they attempted to mark their paper. Some students found it challenging when we came to marking long answer questions. They were very honest and shared their ideas. It was a fantastic opportunity to correct some misconceptions.
The group in question can have their moments but despite the lesson being teacher-led, they coped really well and all maintained focus and stayed engaged.
Sometimes it’s good to celebrate the little wins.
